Glenn Close fought against reshooting the 1987 films final scenes.
Billed as a deep-dive reimagining of the 1987 film, Paramount+sFatal Attractionseries isnt a straight remake.
However, theoriginalFatal Attractionmovie endingcould have alleviated some of those issues decades ago.

Rushing into the bathroom just in time, Dan (seemingly) drowns Alex in self-defense.
When she unexpectedly emerges from the bathtub clutching a butcher knife, Beth shoots and kills her.
Those final scenes were a major departure from theMadama Butterfly-inspired version directorAdrian Lyne originally filmed.

Beth believes this will be enough to clear Dans name, but his fate is never officially revealed.
I loved the original ending.
Six months after we finished shooting, I got a call that we had to reshoot the ending.
I fought it for two weeks.
It was going to make a character I loved into a murdering psychopath.
Meanwhile, the 2008 timeline more closely mirrors the events of the movie but with some more modern updates.
It means more to me now as a father, even more than as a husband.
Thats certainly not how Douglass version of Dan was portrayed, though.
